Walstead acquires Apple Web Offset
Monday 01. November 2010 - Wyndeham Group owner Walstead Investments announces that it has acquired the Apple Web Offset business and assets from Trader Media Group. The acquisition is Walsteads third in less than two years, and is in line with its strategy of consolidation in the UK web offset printing sector.
Apple is a commercial web offset printer that focuses on the newspaper, magazine and supplement markets. Clients include Trader Media Group, Guardian Newspapers, RTE Publications and Manchester Evening News. As part of the deal, the print contract for Autotrader, Trader Medias flagship weekly publication, together with other TMG group titles including Truck Trader, Farmers Trader and Ireland AutoTrader, has been renewed for a further 42 months.
The Apple business will be renamed Wyndeham Apple Limited. The new company will operate as part of Wyndehams Web Division alongside Wyndeham Heron, Wyndeham Impact and Southernprint. Wyndeham Apple moves Wyndeham Group into the low-gsm and newsprint-based printing market and will complement the groups premium magazine heatset printing services.
Wyndeham Apple employs 84 staff at its 10,200 sq.m. manufacturing facility in Warrington and produces over 1.4 million copies each week. It operates three Manroland Uniset 64pp presses, one Komori System 20 8pp cover press, two Muller Martini Corona C12 perfect binders and four Muller Martini stitching lines.
