Sun-Times Media Newspapers Today To Carry Premiere Issue of Athlon Sports, the Largest U.S. Sports Magazine

Friday 22. October 2010 - Sun-Times Media is pleased to announce that Athlon Sports, a dynamic, new monthly magazine appearing in newspapers across the U.S., debuted today in 47 of its newspapers, including the Chicago Sun-Times, SouthtownStar, Post-Tribune, Courier-News (Elgin), Beacon-News (Aurora), Herald-News (Joliet), Naperville Sun, Lake County News-Sun, Pioneer Press and The Doings newspapers.

Athlon Sports will appear each month in Thursday editions of all of these publications. An estimated 600,000 copies of the magazine will be distributed in Sun-Times Media publications, the Company said.

The Athlon Sports November 2010 premiere edition’s cover story, “The Mannings: Football’s First Family”, offers a close look at Archie Manning and his remarkable quarterback sons, Peyton and Eli. The new issue also provides a Q&A with NBA great Dwyane Wade and an NBA season preview and an in-depth look at Jimmie Johnson and his NASCAR Sprint Cup championship reign.

Each month, Athlon Sports will offer compelling features on players, teams and coaches across multiple sports, including everything from college and pro football, Major League Baseball, NBA, golf, racing, hockey, soccer, tennis, horse racing, Olympic sports to youth sports. Athlon Sports will circulate 7 million copies monthly in newspapers across the country, making it the largest sports magazine in the U.S.
