Metso to start employee negotiations at Juankoski plant, Finland
Friday 22. October 2010 - Metso Fabrics PMC Incs Juankoski plant personnel groups representatives have today been given a negotiation proposal according to the Employee Negotiations' Act due to economic and production reasons.
The employee negotiations will discuss the measures needed to adjust the operations to the present production situation. The order amounts for forming fabrics manufactured in Juankoski have not reached the level they had before the economic downturn. This is mainly due to the capacity decrease in the Finnish paper industry.
The negotiations apply to all functions at Juankoski plant. The need for personnel reduction is estimated to be 25 persons. In addition, temporary lay-offs and part-time work are considered as adjustment measures. The negotiations are expected to be terminated in December 2010.
In addition to personnel reductions, the operations will be made more efficient and cost efficiency will be improved also through other measures, in order to secure competitiveness and operations also in the future. In this connection also the possibility to outsource certain functions will be studied.
The amount of personnel at the Juankoski plant is about 260.
