Kodak and Ephesoft Deliver Open Source for Electronic Mailroom Automation and other Transactional Processes
Friday 15. October 2010 - KODAK Capture Pro Software will serve as the exclusive front end to an open source, advanced capture solution from Ephesoft, a member of Kodaks Independent Software Vendor (ISV) program. The new software agreement benefits organizations with electronic mailrooms that require the ability to classify both unstructured and semi-structured documents, including correspondence, invoices or customer orders. The "Zero License Fee" application is available to customers without up-front license fees.
“Open Source software is exploding. Many public and private companies are committed to using open source software for their mission-critical applications over the next 12 months. Ephesoft helps provide leadership through its offerings in the Open Source Intelligent Document Capture market,” said Ike Kavas, CTO of Ephesoft. “Kodaks Capture Pro Software adds an enterprise-level capture front-end to our mailroom automation solution, at a competitive price offering.”
Ephesoft provides users with a zero desktop footprint using a web-based application built on the latest JAVA Technology. A community edition of the solution is available for smaller companies as a stand-alone installation. Ephesoft offers different support models for larger enterprise sites including 24×7 service access, which require support and maintenance fees.
KODAK Capture Pro Software sends scanned images into Ephesofts software to allow users to quickly determine specific data needed for extraction, including account numbers, purchase order numbers and billing amounts. The solution enables professionals in industries such as insurance and finance to readily manage high volumes of document centric business processes, and focus on core business priorities.
Users can benefit from Ephesofts mailroom automation with the ability to classify and also separate batch-scanned documents based on content OCR. The solution enables businesses to easily eliminate manual processes such as inserting separator sheets, helping to reduce processing times, labor and consumable costs.
“This is the type of application that will help end users initiate automated business processes from the initial point of capture,” said Brian Bagan, Director, Business Development, United States and Canada, Document Imaging, Kodak. “We expect that the open source approach will help our customers achieve a more rapid return-on-investment from mailroom automation and other transactional applications.”
