GSE Dispensing appoints Scandinavian Electronics as distribution agency for Australasian flexo and gravure markets

Tuesday 12. October 2010 - GSE Dispensing, the global leader in gravimetric ink dispensing systems for the packaging, label, textile and coating markets, has appointed Scandinavian Electronics (SE), as distribution agents in the Australia and New Zealand.

Founded in 1977, Scandinavian Electronics is a well-established distributor of process control equipment and laboratory instrumentation for the region’s printing, packaging, pulp and paper industries, with clients such as the Flint Group, Toyo Ink, DIC, Fujifilm, Norske Skog, Amcor, Visy Industries, SCA Hygiene, Kimberly-Clark, and Australian Paper.

Strategically based in Sydney, Melbourne and on New Zealand’s North Island, Scandinavian Electronics will serve as GSE Dispensing’s local contact for all flexo and gravure-related product inquiries and service calls. Its six staff – including four full-time service engineers – will provide comprehensive after-sales support, including installation, operator training, preventative maintenance, calibration and equipment repair.

“We are delighted to appoint Scandinavian Electronics as our agents,” stated Mr. Anne Lourens, managing director of GSE Dispensing. “Thanks to SE’s strong service capabilities, and the fast response times they assure, printers are certain to get the most out of their investment in GSE equipment.”

The pressure to drive costs and waste out of the production flow has led to greater automation of the pre-press stage, and the colour preparation stage is no exception. Through its Colorsat product programme, GSE Dispensing has a proven track record in helping graphics customers achieve exact, consistent colour quality and improved ink yields, sometimes by up to 30 percent. Powered by proprietary Ink Management Software, the dispensing equipment determines exact recipes and volume requirements for the most complex spot colours, dispensing the exact amount needed for a particular job on demand. A 20kg ink batch, for instance, is dispensed in as little as two minutes. The software can reuse excess ‘return inks’, normally too complex to be calculated manually into new recipes. As well as eliminating the chance of bottlenecks at a vital stage in the workflow, GSE’s gravimetric systems reduce labour intensity and allow for a hands-free, hygienic colour preparation environment.

The company has achieved its first New Zealand installation at Wellington-based corrugated board converter, Charta Packaging, earlier this year.
Nick Nilsson, Scandinavian Electronics’ managing director, comments: “We are thrilled with our new partnership with GSE Dispensing. This is a well-known supplier in Europe with an excellent reputation for supplying high-quality equipment. We look forward to the challenge and opportunity of promoting and servicing this equipment in Australia and New Zealand. From SE’s point of view, this partnership strengthens our presence in the market and compliments our existing product range”.
