Process Optimization in Prepress and Printing

printnet OM, the output management system from the printnet family

Monday 04. October 2010 - manroland and ppi Media to present further developments to their joint solutions at the IFRA Expo 2010

In an increasingly dynamic environment between the printed newspaper and free content on the web, it is imperative to create solutions that are economically attractive to the printing industry. In the field of industrial print production with Automatic Plate Loading (APL) in particular, manroland and ppi Media have further optimized the interaction of the automated solution for printing presses from the printnet family, PECOM, and the output management system printnet OM.
The implementation of standard software is becoming increasingly important since the prepress workflow has been extended to the time the plates are mounted on the press. “With printnet OM, the output management system from the printnet family, plate production is perfectly coordinated with the printing plan from printnet PECOM and supports industrial print production optimally,” says Günther Glas, Executive Vice President of the Business Unit printnet Webfed at manroland. Norbert Ohl, COO of ppi Media, adds: “Highly integrated in the end-to-end printnet planning and production workflow, printnet OM supports all PECOM requirements.” With regard to APL, this means optimum coordination of the software and hardware in all processes. From plate logistics through optional imaging of dummy plates to color coherence and the automatic generation of double-truck forms, printnet OM – supplied with planning data from printnet – controls a smoothly integrated prepress workflow.
“Together manroland and ppi Media develop comprehensive, integrated solutions for customers all over the world,” Norbert Ohl adds. “printnet PECOM and printnet OM are linked by a large number of defined and, above all, reliable and secure interfaces. The systems interact intuitively and, once production has started, ensure further cost savings in the production workflow in the pressroom. At the same time, the quality of the products has improved,” Günther Glas adds.
The printnet solutions by manroland and ppi Media will be presented at stands 4.420 and 4.430 at the IFRA Expo 2010, which will take place from October 4-6, 2010.
