Boneck Printing Trades Up to a POLAR 115 X
Tuesday 05. October 2010 - Boneck Printing, a growing offset and flexographic printer in Sheboygan, Wis., has purchased and installed a POLAR 115 X high-speed, programmable paper cutter. The new cutter replaces a 25-year-old POLAR ECM cutter, and represents a quantum leap in efficiency, ease-of-use and productivity for the 41-year-old commercial printer, a longtime Heidelberg customer.
“We cut everything from raw sheets to finished pads on the POLAR machine,” said company president Tom Behrens. “Although weve been up and running for only a few weeks, my operators are telling me how happy they are with the cutter, especially the ease of programming and maintenance, step-by-step alerts, and the streamlined OptiKnife knife-changing. As a result of these innovations, we hope to be at least 30 percent more productive than we were.”
Elsewhere in the shop, Boneck operates a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 6-color press, a Speedmaster SM 52 6-color press with Axis Color Control, a Suprasetter 52 platesetter with Prinect Prepress Manager workflow, a Heidelberg 72ZP 2-color perfector, a Heidelberg TOK press, and a Printmaster QM 46-2, in addition to Stahl B 26 and B 20 folders. The company also uses a variety of Heidelberg Saphira consumables including inks, press wash and Saphira Chem-free plates.
Established in 1962 and with 14 employees, Boneck handles a variety of commercially printed products from brochures, catalogs, posters, POP displays and labels, to letterheads, envelopes, and calling cards for customers in 28 states. The company also produces flexo labels on rolls.
