The Media and Precision Technology Company (President: Kyohei Fujisawa) of Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan) is pleased to announce the development of the Truepress Jet520ZZ as a flagship model for its full-color variable printing systems. The Truepress Jet520ZZ offers the next step in high-throughput production.
In recent years, the demand for high value-added printed materials personalized for individual customers has surged, in conjunction with the rapid spread of POD (Print On Demand) technology in the printing industry. In addition, there has been an increasing trend toward a wide variety of short-run printing styles for materials such as catalogs and magazines. As a result, there has been a clear increase in the need for high-speed inkjet variable printing presses that can process large volumes of these materials at top quality.
The Truepress Jet520 full-color variable printing system launched by Screen in 2006 has acquired an impressive reputation as an on-demand printing press capable of handling various applications. The system’s monthly sales have increased throughout 2010, and Screen projects significantly higher sales numbers for the second half of the year. The recently developed Truepress Jet520ZZ builds on these results and is positioned as a high-end press for full-color on-demand printing. It is able to achieve high-speed printing of 220 meters (721.7 feet) per minute* while maintaining the high print quality delivered by the Truepress Jet520. In addition, the Truepress Jet520ZZ is equipped with the EQUIOS workflow RIP as a controller and is capable of the latest variable processing required for high-speed printing. It is also able to accommodate paper widths of 570 mm (22.4″).** Installation of the JetInspection unit for variable data printing presses as an option provides a solution to the checking of barcodes and OCR fonts created in variable printing and promotes stable print quality and high reliability.
Screen plans to exhibit an actual unit of the newly developed Truepress Jet520ZZ at GRAPH EXPO 2010, the largest graphic communications exhibition and conference in the Americas, which will be taking place in Chicago, IL (USA) from October 3 (Sunday) to October 6 (Wednesday), 2010. The company also intends to fully pursue the potential offered by the Truepress Jet520 series, further expanding both its market share and the fields in which the series can be used.
