Wednesday 29. September 2010 - Line-up Strengthened, Various New Options Added

The Media and Precision Technology Company (President: Kyohei Fujisawa) of Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan) has begun offering new solutions that strengthen the Truepress Jet520 series of full-color variable printing systems by adding new models to its product lineup, as well as a variety of new options.
The Truepress Jet520 has already garnered praise from customers throughout the world as an on-demand printing press suitable for a variety of different applications. Since coming onto the market in 2006, it has been a leading model in the industry. Monthly sales have increased throughout 2010, and Screen projects significantly higher sales numbers for the second half of the year. Screen has just created two new models that benefit from this history, the high-end Truepress Jet520ZZ, which was designed for superior productivity, and the Truepress Jet520EX Color type, which brings affordable full-color on-demand printing to the industry. Thanks to the addition of these new models, Screen is now offering an even wider range of solutions that make the most of the Truepress Jet520 series’ capabilities. These solutions feature a variety of options that improve quality, functionality, and dependability for a variety of printing applications, including the added-value on-demand and variable data printing offered by inkjet printing presses.
What’s more, Screen has strengthened its collaboration with sales partner InfoPrint Solutions Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ricoh (InfoPrint headquarters are in Colorado, USA; hereafter referred to as InfoPrint; President and CEO: Daisuke Segawa), and the two companies will be offering solutions that enhance the appeal of the Truepress Jet520 series product line together. The first step in this process will be exhibiting the two newly developed platforms at both Screen and Ricoh/InfoPrint’s stands at GRAPH EXPO 2010, the largest graphic communications exhibition and conference in the Americas, which will be taking place in Chicago, IL (USA) from October 3 (Sunday) to October 6 (Wednesday), 2010. The companies look forward to contributing to the world printing industry as they continue to strengthen their rich lineup of inkjet printing presses, including the Truepress Jet520 series.

Major options

JD-520 external drying unit for inkjet printing systems
The JD-520 is an external drying unit developed by Screen to improve ink drying. Users can make a variety of drying settings to suit a wide range of printing environments. The JD-520 makes it possible to use types of paper stock, such as inkjet matte coated paper and inkjet glossy coated paper, whose drying was an issue in the past, so users can employ their variable printing systems in a broader range of applications. Best of all, the JD-520 can be connected to the Truepress Jet520 in a variety of different system arrangements, and can be added to systems that have already been installed, which enables users to expand the range of printed products they offer while investing in new equipment in stages.

JetInspection JI-500 inspection unit for variable data printing presses
The JetInspection JI-500 uses a camera to capture bar codes and OCR fonts, and after decoding them, outputs the inspection results. Using this system increases product reliability and contributes to more consistent production overall. In addition, Screen plans to offer a full-pixel, real-time inspection function in the future that compares entire pages, including images and text, with their digital data.

Ink saving solution
The ink saving solution maintains high image quality while reducing ink costs, which are a major concern in commercial and other printing fields. It is particularly effective with pages that contain many images, as well as with data that uses a great deal of C, M, and Y, and can reduce ink usage by up to 15%. What’s more, it supports the creation of stable gray tones and improves the reproduction of areas of high color saturation, while also decreasing the total volume of ink used and improving drying.

PANTONE library included*
EQUOIS, which is the front-end system for the Truepress Jet520ZZ, now includes PANTONE PLUS and PANTONE Goe from the PANTONE library. The inclusion of color charts for the widely used PANTONE colors ensures easier, more accurate conversion of PANTONE colors to process colors in the RIP.
