Kodak to Showcase the Quality of the KODAK VERSAMARK VL4200 Printing System at Distripress Congress 2010

Wednesday 15. September 2010 - Newspaper distributors can discover how to streamline their operations, improve quality and boost revenue by visiting the Kodak booth at Distripress Congress 2010.

This year’s show marks Kodak’s debut at the event. The company will be exhibiting printed samples of its market-leading KODAK VERSAMARK VL4200 Printing System and showing videos of the machine in action. The VL4200 System is ideally suited for newspaper applications, delivering dramatic improvements in operational efficiency and print quality to help distributors compete in a highly competitive market. Distripress Congress 2010 takes place September 27-30 and is being staged at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH), Germany. Kodak can be found at Booth 16, Hall H.

VL4200offers a raft of business opportunities for the newspaper industry

The VL4200 System affords distributors a raft of operational advantages and new business opportunities. The system enables fast, remote publication, allowing publishers to reach new audiences. Its outstanding quality not only delivers the exacting print and color picture results that publishers and advertisers demand, but also allows distributors to expand into the commercial sector and generate new revenue.

Also, the machine’s excellent productivity gives distributors the capacity to increase the number of titles they can produce. This helps them increase profit, while enabling publishers to offer their readership a wider choice. Plus the VL4200 System lets publishers localize content according to culture and geography, making their titles more appealing to advertisers.

One distributor reaping the benefits of the VL4200 System is Miller Newsprint Ltd. The company is part of the Miller Malta Group and a major shareholder in Newsfax International, London – the UK’s largest independent newspaper contract printer.

Miller Newsprint turned to the VL4200 System for remote newspaper publishing in Malta and quickly won the support of leading European publishers. The company delivers major global brands, such as The Financial Times, The Economist, Time, Newsweek, and National Geographic. It also distributes most of the UK national press, including those printed or about to start on the VL4200, including the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Sunday Mirror, Star, The Financial Times, Daily and Sunday Express, People, The Daily Mirror, The Daily and Sunday Telegraph. Miller Newsprint is anticipating a 50% increase in daily sales when it increases the volume and number of titles it distributes in the future.

Before using the VL4200 System, Miller Newsprint used airfreight to transport newspapers. But by printing the titles digitally on the island, the company is reducing its carbon footprint and providing a range of popular titles ready for distribution at dawn each morning.

Rinus Hoebeke, EAMER Newspaper Segment Manager at Kodak, comments: “The VL4200 is perfect for newspaper distributors. It produces the exemplary quality that publishers and advertisers demand. Plus it delivers the uptime and speed needed for high-volume production within stringent time constraints. “And as Miller Newsprint discovered, it makes remote newspaper publishing easy and profitable. Distributors can boost revenue by increasing the volume and number of titles they produce. And by tailoring content for local markets, the publications become more relevant to readers and more attractive to advertisers”.

“We’re very much looking forward to our first Distripress exhibition and showing delegates what the VL4200 can do.”
