WoodWing releases version 1.5 of its Digital Magazine Tools
Monday 13. September 2010 - This new release of the Digital Magazine Tools offers support for sharing, statistics and more. New versions of Enterprise and Content Station - including a Free Edition - have also been released.
WoodWing Software, one of the innovation drivers in the fields of cross-media and tablet publishing solutions for newspaper, magazine and corporate publishers, today announced the release of Version 1.5 of its Digital Magazine Tools for iPad. With more than 30 renowned publishers worldwide now distributing their magazines on Apple’s popular tablet, WoodWing’s tools have become the preferred solution to create attractive, feature-rich publications on the iPad.
Social Media integration
The new version again offers a multitude of new features. One of the most-requested additions is the capability to share content via Twitter, Facebook or e-mail. A hyperlink can now be shared from within the app to inform friends about certain content.
App statistics and Push notifications
WoodWing’s Digital Magazine Tools also allow publishers to gather information on how readers are using the digital magazine. A connection to a statistics provider, such as Adobe’s Omniture, Flurry or Google Analytics, can be established via the Analytics API. An Omniture reference integration is available. The Reader App also supports push notifications to inform the reader about the availability of new issues.
Going far beyond the print and Web experience
“Our tools are the preferred solution for publishers who want to create iPad editions of their publication brands going far beyond the print and Web experience,” said Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software. “With our tools, publishers can do so using their existing team and skills. In order to keep and attract readers, our customers don’t believe in just the simple conversion of print PDFs into a static iPad app.”
Other new features in this release include the bundling of sub-issues into one purchasable item; filtering of issues in the app; background audio; video- and slide show rotation; resumable downloads; a custom home page; single-orientation apps and more.
Updates of Content Station and Enterprise
Along with the Digital Magazine Tools release, WoodWing has also released an important update of its Enterprise 7 publishing system – including Content Station 7.2 and the Smart Connection 7.2 plug-ins – providing customers with many usability improvements, while supporting both Adobe’s Creative Suite 4 and 5.
A new product – Content Station Free Edition – has been added to WoodWing’s product portfolio. It enables users in an editorial management role to see the overall progress of a print publication using Content Station’s Publication Overview for free.
