CTP - Computer to Plate

All’s well at Printwell which will take first dual loading Suprasetter in Scotland

Thursday 26. August 2010 - Printwell will be the first company in Scotland to buy a dual loading version of the Suprasetter CtP device. This will give it the flexibility to run plates in both B2 and B3 format.

The company operates a Speedmaster CD 74-10-P, a B2 long perfector which also marked a first for Scotland when it was installed, and two B3 presses, the Printmaster PM 52 and Printmaster QM 46. An older CtP device is being retained to handle plates primarily for the spot colour portrait press.
The Airdrie company says a problem with plate supply for its previous CtP system forced this investment. As a result it looked at all main options but the Suprasetter A75 machine and Heidelberg as a supplier came out on top.
The flexibility that dual loading will give the company is attractive, allowing manless output of up to 50 B2 or 100 B3 plates overnight for uninterrupted production or up to 200 0.15mm plates if just one cassette is loaded. Also it will now run Heidelberg’s own brand Saphira Chem-free plates, fulfilling its environmental aspirations.
Printwell operates from a 10,000 sq ft factory and produces magazines, brochures leaflets, stationery, Annual Reports, point of sale material, NCR sets and other commercial material for companies of all sizes both locally and nationally. It is a strong, stable and independent business.
“Our company has a reputation for quality and an eye for detail and we can retain that but increase our productivity with this machine. We feel secure in the robustness and longevity of this model,” says Jim Robertson, managing director.
