Cowan Print switches from Morgana to Heidelberg folding
Monday 23. August 2010 - Less than a year after installing a Speedmaster SM 54-5, Cowan Print has returned to Heidelberg to buy a Ti30 buckle folder. It will replace an older Morgana UFO.
The machine will be installed next month. “We will be able to fold faster and to handle a wider range of folds and increase the options for creasing,” says managing director Craig Cowan.
The company looked at other options but came down in favour of Heidelberg, preferring the machine and benefitting from competitive pricing. It visited a user to view the equipment in action before signing the order.
Although most printers are finding runs are getting shorter, Cowan Print says it is being asked for longer runs more, 20,000 plus, in addition to the smaller jobs. This is in part due to the five-colour which can handle specials and varnishes but also because it believes its customer base has grown in confidence in dealing with the Cowan Print team.
Cowan Print is based at a single factory unit in Kilsyth, near Glasgow, and it has been in business since 1987. It offers a full design to delivery service and supplies office stationery and equipment as well as print to a nationwide customer base.
