Surfing on a wave of success with a ROLAND 700 HiPrint

The new ROLAND 700 HiPrint enables iDrukker in Rotterdam to continue processing online orders rapidly and cheaply.

Thursday 19. August 2010 - Dutch online printing company iDrukker expands its capacity

At a time when many companies in the printing industry are exercising caution, online printer iDrukker in Rotterdam has the courage to invest in a ROLAND 700 HiPrint.

Company owner Piet van den Ende simply wanted to take advantage of a favorable opportunity. “The building next door became available and it seemed to us that we could afford a 3B format press. It was a unique chance to virtually double our production capacity with negligible additional costs.” This resulted in the reliable ROLAND 500 being replaced by a brand new four-color ROLAND 700 HiPrint with coating module and a new CTP exposure unit was purchased as well. The new equipment was delivered by haulage company Koninklijke Saan on March 10, 2010 and went into production on April 2. “Drukkerij van den Ende” has been in business for more than 100 years and is now active in the Internet under the name iDrukker. Thanks to an optimally structured and automatic ordering system, this Rotterdam firm claims to offer prices that hardly any competitor can match, and the new press makes iDrukker products even cheaper. As Commercial Manager Duco Lammerts van Bueren explains: “We invested above all to improve our profit margin and a large part of this extra profit goes back to our customers.”

Nothing ventured, nothing gained
By purchasing the building next door, iDrukker was able to install and commission the new ROLAND 700 HiPrint and the CTP unit without stopping production. Moving to a larger-format press also affected the prepress and finishing operations. “The new format made it necessary to buy a new CTP exposure unit as well”, reports Robin Heinzmann, Sales Consultant at manroland Benelux. “The paper cutter was still suitable for the new format and by adding a collating machine iDrukker can now gain a foothold in the magazine market.” Piet van den Ende believes that when one sees good business opportunities, one must be prepared to invest: “We have been around for a long time and we maintain long-term relationships with our suppliers. This is already the sixth press we have bought from manroland Benelux. At the end of the day it’s all about planning and moving forward together.”
