Digipix becomes the first company in Latin America to acquire an HP Indigo 7500 press

Friday 13. August 2010 - HP sold its first HP Indigo press model in Latin America to Digipix, the Brazilian and Latin American leader in the photographic segment of the digital print market.

The acquisition represents an important step in the partnership between HP and Digipix, which, in 2005, was the first company in the region to acquire an HP Indigo 5000 press. With this investment, the company will now operate three HP presses: the HP Indigo 7500, an HP Indigo 7000, purchased in 2009, and an HP Indigo 5500, acquired three years ago.
“Digipix is an example of success in the use of Indigo technology in the photo industry. This partnership reinforces even more the growth of our technology in this kind of application, and the HP support to the business development of its clients. Brazil has been one of the countries with the largest growth in the volume of printed pages worldwide, both due to the strengthening of its market and the country’s economics, which is going through a significant increase in investments in the printing industry,” said Fernando Alperowitch, Indigo’s Latin America Regional Director.
Digipix has a wide portfolio of photobook (under its registered trademark Fotolivro) models and also photogifts, such as cards, calendars, mousepads, and jigsaw puzzles. Among its direct and indirect clients are consumers and image professionals all over the country. Professional photographers, designers, and publishers have access to the Pro Line of Fotolivro, with exclusive sizes and finishing options. By putting together HP and Digipix expertise, it is possible to create customized Fotolivro and photogifts, made individually with the same quality of those produced in large scale.
“We are proud of this significant step in our development, having acquired the most up-to-date equipment from HP, world leader not just in digital printing, but in photo applications in particular. With this investment we reinforce our commitment to the photographic market in general and to each and every one of our clients and partners, who know they can count on Digipix for their current and future needs and desires,” stated Marco Perlman, the company’s CEO.
With the acquisition of HP Indigo 7500, Digipix expands its production capacity and improves its quality controls – one of the main differentiating factors of this press model. The company is also getting ready for the end of year holiday season, a period when the production reaches its peak of demand thanks to Christmas, New Year, and vacations.
