DEVELOP D 240F: All a small office needs for everyday communications
Tuesday 10. August 2010 - Space and financial resources are often limited in small offices and their monthly printing volume is low. Most printing or copying is done in black and white and finishing functions such as stapling or punching are rarely re-quired.
The ideal office communications solution in such environments would be a compact, speedy, economical all-rounder. This is precisely what the monochrome D 240F from DEVELOP claims to be – the multifunctional answer to the needs of a small office.
It is based on a high-performance fax system and also offers printing, copying and scanning as standard functions. Barbara Prudel, DEVELOPs D 240F product manager, outlines the benefits to users: “This compact multifunctional device is the ideal stand-alone system for small offices since it is suitable for all routine office communications – whether printing, copy-ing, scanning or faxing. Moreover, it is also useful in a larger department where it can serve multi-user workgroups or work alongside an A3 colour system.”
Small but speedy
The D 240F prints and copies fast (24 ppm), has a relatively short warm-up time (23 sec.) and comes with a 400 MHz processor for rapid RIPping of print jobs. In other words, this compact device can easily cope with all the office communication requirements of multiple users and help prevent the time-consuming delays often associated with small office systems. Despite its speed, the D 240F does not compromise on quality. The ultra-fine particles of the systems polymerized toner produce high-quality documents, whilst printing small font sizes.
More than multifunctional
As a fax-based system, the D 240F naturally carries out all the high-performance fax functions a small office or department requires. Yet it has a lot more to offer than just printing, copying and faxing. A scan-to-print function allows documents to be scanned in colour – even on a black-and-white device – and sent to the nearest colour system to be printed out in colour, as required. Since the D 240F can be seamlessly integrated into existing print networks, the scan-to-print function ensures departmental users enjoy the advantages of a compact black-and-white system but can still print in colour. Moreover, by serving as an interface to docu-ment management systems, the D 240F allows scanned documents to be supplemented by metadata for easier archiving and retrieval. An optional feature even makes barcode printing possible.
Whereas many multifunctional A4 systems only have a small and simple LCD operating pa-nel, the D 240F comes with an easy-to-use touchscreen display that simplifies navigation through the user menu. Users can even customize the display to their own specific require-ments to save operating time and effort.
Economical and easy to use
A truly economical office device needs to be both a value-for-money investment and inexpen-sive to run. In both of these criteria the D 240F delivers. Considering the extensive range of standard functions including paper-saving duplex printing, the purchase price is very reason-able for a machine of its class. An equally important consideration is the cost of operating a small office system. Here, the D 240F can be much more economical than older systems or ink-jet devices – not least through functions that allow businesses to keep track of their docu-ment production costs. The D 240F allows authorization rights to be allocated to as many as 200 users and access to the system or particular functions can individually be restricted. Transparency in document production expenditure helps reduce costs in the medium to long term.
To sum up the D 240F is the perfect allrounder for small offices.
