Pitney Bowes Business Insight Launches MapInfo Crime Profiler

Tuesday 03. August 2010 - Real-Time Analysis of Crime Data Supports Effective Law Enforcement Strategies

Pitney Bowes Business Insight today announced MapInfo Crime Profiler, a flexible solution for real-time identification and analysis of crime patterns and trends. Armed with this intelligence, law enforcement agencies can more effectively deploy resources and assist detectives in identifying and apprehending suspects.

A new module for Pitney Bowes Business Insight’s MapInfo Professionalv10.5, MapInfo Crime Profiler solution is accessible from the software’s main menu bar and provides the user with a wide range of crime analysis tools. Its core functions include hotspot analysis, interactive analytical investigation and temporal analysis. The solution’s highly visual and interactive charting and graphing capabilities enable law enforcement agencies to clearly map and analyze crime patterns in order to make more informed crime analysis and enforcement decisions.

“Police forces, emergency services and other organizations engaged in making communities safer, are under increased pressure to improve services, respond faster and achieve more positive results,” said Manny San Pedro, executive director at MDSP Consultants. “MapInfo Crime Profiler empowers users to better protect citizens by effectively leveraging crime data to eliminate the randomness from patrols. By reviewing real-time crime data, agencies can improve efficiencies, reduce crime rates and provide the highest level of protection for their communities.”

Crime Profiler solution automates much of the statistical legwork behind crime analysis with new data combinations and overlays, and advanced visualization capabilities and analysis techniques, allowing agencies to efficiently evaluate operations and formulate crime prevention strategies. For example, law enforcement organizations can locate crime hot spots and uncover fraudulent activity clustered around a specific location, such as connected residences, non-existent business addresses and altered ATMs.

“MapInfo Crime Profiler equips law enforcement professionals with the mission-critical abilities to quickly identify crime problems, evaluate operations and formulate crime prevention strategies,” said Ian Broadbent, business development manager Policing and Public Safety EMEA at Pitney Bowes Business Insight. “MapInfo Crime Profiler has an intuitive dashboard interface to help users perform analyses more quickly and easily. In turn, law enforcement agencies are able to better understand crime data and make intelligent decisions on where to deploy resources, which is critical for protecting communities and fighting crime.”
