Fujifilm showcases its widest range of UV technology solutions ever at FESPA 2010

Thursday 24. June 2010 - Launch of Pro-File, Inca Onset S20 handling system & Acuity Advance HS X2

Fujifilm is showcasing its widest range of screen and inkjet solutions for producing wide and super-wide format print at FESPA 2010, Hall B1 Stand 220. The combination of an impressive line-up of printers (all fuelled by Fujifilm’s award-winning Uvijet inks) together with its new Pro-File system to standardise colour on screen and inkjet production, and the euromedia range provides a ‘must-see’ stand for visitors to the show.

“UV technology delivers the right quality, at the right price point and the right speed,” comments Keith Harley, head of marketing, wide format, Fujifilm Europe. “With our 50 year heritage in the colour space, we believe that for screen and digital printers alike, UV is the future of wide format printing. We are inviting visitors to come along and see how this technology fits with their applications used with anything from the high quality, near-photographic devices we have on stand such as Acuity, through to the superwide machines targeted at outdoor advertising.”

He continues, “And, in parallel, using our new Pro-File colour control system, we are demonstrating to visitors how they can take the screen methods they have been using for many years, and combine these with new digital technologies that are now available, to provide their customers with consistent, reliable, but also cost effective material.”

i) Pro-File

FESPA 2010 is the launch pad for Fujifilm’s process independent colour control system called ‘Pro-File’. Utilising its understanding of colour chemistry, Fujifilm has designed a system to allow screen printers to deliver consistent colour output and optimise production efficiencies across both screen and inkjet technologies to deliver the wide variety of print demanded by customers in the 21st century.

The ability to control colour independent of printing device location, substrate, printing method, ink or people will enable printers to have complete confidence that the colour of every single job for any brand will always match, and at the right price point.

The Pro-File system combines three best-in-class components – Fujifilm Sericol screen inks, Fujifilm Acuity digital printers, and ColorGATE software. This combination enables screen printers to deliver consistent colour and quality print output across proofs, screen and digital print through process-independent colour control, providing users with a flexible, cost-effective solution to meet the increasing demands for print to comply with ISO 12647-2 (FOGRA 39).

ii) Superwide Outdoor Applications

Demonstrating how printers can take advantage of the emerging market for clip-frame billboard banners printed on woven polyethylene (PE) and other superwide format display graphics, the recently-launched Uvistar superwide format printer will be shown on the stand as the most flexible, cost efficient printer in its class.

The Uvistar is available in four different models, producing high quality output at throughput speeds in excess of 300m2/hour. A proven multi-roll system with a highly intuitive user interface, it provides fast and efficient start up with low media wastage, and has the ability to handle rolls of varying widths up to five metres. In combination with the new vibrant Fujifilm Uvijet QK inks, the printers can produce jobs on a very wide range of flexible media, including PE, with no curing or ink starvation issues and with excellent inter-coat lay down for backlit and solid prints.

iii) Acuity Advance HS and HS X2

Fujifilm will be showcasing the new Acuity Advance HS, on show for the first time in continental Europe. The Acuity produces near-photographic quality images at speeds of up to 60m2/hr, and is an excellent mid-range flatbed for high-quality POP and signage.

In addition, also for the first time in Europe, the Acuity Advance HS X2 will be on stand. The X2 version of the Acuity HS offers all of the advantages of the HS but is ideal for very large exhibition graphics.

iv) The Onset Effect

Visitors to the stand can also see the newest model in the high performance Inca Onset series, which has quickly established itself as a popular choice for productivity. The Onset S20 is a UV curing inkjet flatbed printer that can print edge to edge onto rigid and flexible substrates at production speeds of 275m2/hr and 50 full bed sheets (3.14 x 1.6m), with the ability to process substrates as thick as 50mm. It also boasts a gloss level control for great versatility in its finish. These revolutionary printers have represented a major change in business dynamics for the industry, as digital flatbed becomes an economical method of producing high-impact visual images.

Alongside the Onset S20, shown for the first time, will be the new handling system which has been designed with the customer in mind. Fitting perfectly with the machine, its design and simplicity will increases material handing efficiency by up to 36% whilst maintaining the flexibility of swapping between substrate types and sizes which is such an important factor for printers.

v) euromedia

Completing the line-up is Fujifilm’s euromedia brand, which provides a dedicated offering for wide format printing. This well known brand of media, software, inks and support comprises hundreds of roll media products for all water-based, solvent-based and UV-printing and laminating applications. These could range from low cost posters, indoor and outdoor banners, flags, exhibition graphics, signmaking and vehicle wraps, to backlit and art prints, and be fulfilled with standard media to novel and high-value products for the more specialist applications.
