Arthur Sulzberger Jr. of NY Times Joins Newsroom Summit
Monday 21. June 2010 - Arthur Sulzberger Jr., the Chairman and Publisher of The New York Times, has joined the programme of the 9th International Newsroom Summit, to be held on 8 and 9 September in London, where he will talk about paid content and the importance of leveraging audience and reader engagement.
The Times has announced it will be introducing a paid model for NYTimes.com in 2011. The site will offer users free access to a set number of articles per month and then charge users once they exceed that number.
The Newsroom Summit, organised by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) and Newsplex (www.wan-ifra.org/newsplex) will focus on what the next generation newsroom will look like and how it will operate. Full conference details can be found at www.ifra.com/newsroomsummit.
Mr Sulzberger is responsible for the New York Times long-term business strategy and runs the companys flagship enterprise on a day-to-day basis. He believes reader engagement is the future of the news business model.
