Ipex OEM Partnerships Highlight Dominos Proven VDP Expertise

May 2010 - In addition to its own stand (17-D900), visitors to IPEX can expect to see widespread representation of Dominos world leading in-line variable data printing (VDP) technology throughout the show, as a host of OEM partners showcase its versatile functionality across key commercial printing applications.
Reflecting over 30 years pioneering expertise in delivering innovative high-speed VDP ink jet solutions, Dominos equipment display will demonstrate its ability to provide increased value and flexibility to the mailing, wrapping and stitching sectors. This will include Dominos K-Series high resolution drop-on-demand ink jet print solution, whose new K600 single colour ink jet head will receive its global premier at IPEX; the Bitjet+ v4.5 binary printer, Dominos fastest, most versatile in-line printing system; and the user-friendly L-Series thermal ink jet (TIJ) printer.

Dominos OEM partner, Buhrs will demonstrate the K-Series feature-rich attributes in conjunction with a wrapping application at IPEX. The K150 meets the increasing demands for late-stage ink jet customisation on a range of coated and uncoated substrates in mailing, label, ticket, security, plastic card and business form applications. Capable of printing addresses, barcodes, 2D codes including QR Codes, numbers, logos, and graphics, the simple compact modular design makes integration on to mailing lines, webs and card lines easy to achieve. The K-Series piezo drop on demand technology delivers excellent print quality with impactive UV as well as cost effective low volatile solvent ink options.

Integrating seamlessly into existing lines an running at speeds of up to 15m/second, the versatile Bitjet+ v4.5 binary printer is Dominos fastest in-line printing system to date. Thanks to its extremely compact print head and ultra-fast drying inks, the Bitjet+ provides excellent inline application flexibility and facilitates printing of printing barcodes and 2D codes, as well as traceability data, on a wide range of substrates. Common applications include bindery, folders, wrapping, inserters, rewinders, plastic cards, sheet feed and web press, mailing lines and label presses.
At IPEX, the versatility of Dominos Bitjet+ v4.5 will feature on the Muller Martini stand as part of the on-site print setup for the IPEX Show Daily publication. Automatically numbering each issue of the 80,000 (10,000 per day) Show Daily, the Bitjet+ will facilitate a daily prize draw based on a series of variable 2D codes, in conjunction with exhibition organisers and Haymarket Publishing. Participants can find out whether theyve won by checking their unique code with one of the readers on Dominos stand. In addition, Italy-based CMC will demonstrate the capabilities of the Bitjet+ as part of a wrapping configuration.
L-Series thermal ink jet (TIJ) printer

From Dominos L-Series range, the twin print nozzle L400 TIJ printer is tailored for use in high volume print runs, where it can be integrated with mail bases, envelope inserters, folders and narrow print webs. Designed for applications that require high print quality, the L400 prints at resolutions up to 600 dpi and runs 30% faster than the market leading system whilst at the same print resolution. The L400 bulk ink system provides a proven and cost effective solution for commercial printers in the direct mail market, while its powerful VDP capabilities include addressing with the latest linear and 2D barcodes, postage paid indicia, graphics and messaging.
