KODAK PROSPER S10 Imprinting System Adds Process Color to Blend High-Impact Offset with Full-Color Personalization
Friday 21. May 2010 - Worldwide integrator alliance enables more compelling hybrid printing
Meeting the customer demand for a process color capability using the PROSPER S10 Imprinting System, Kodak is creating a worldwide network of system integrators to enable part-page and full-page variable color print inline with a web offset press or web finishing line. The anticipated solutions will be ideal for direct mail, catalog, and other custom publishing solutions, as well as transaction documents.
Customers are now able to leverage the specialty printing capabilities of offsetincluding metallic inks, heavy color saturation, scratch-off coatings, and other specialty inksto create a high-value shell that can then be customized with process color digital printing inline at production speeds. This game-changing capability opens new opportunities with one of the most cost-effective and uniquely efficient hybrid digital color solutions on the market.
“The PROSPER S-Series integrator program will provide our customers with access to a worldwide network of leading integrators to upgrade their offset presses with digital color capability,” said Ronen Cohen, Vice President, Inkjet Printing Solutions, Kodak. “Now Kodak customers have the best of both worlds to fuel growth for their businessKODAK PROSPER S-Series Imprinting Systems integrated, in full process color, on their existing offset presses and finishing lines. The result is more highly effective communications materials.”
Thanks to innovative new process color ink developments from Kodak, customers will be able to produce full-color, dynamically versioned content. The solution is ideal for highly effective marketing services, enabling short runs, personalization, and job versioning while leveraging existing offset printing and finishing equipment.
The KODAK PROSPER S10 Imprinting System, the first product to implement KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology, was launched in June 2009 as a monochrome imprinting system for delivering offset class variable data applications produced inline with web offset presses and finishing equipment at up to 1,000 fpm/305 mpm. The PROSPER S10 Imprinting System, with flexible mounting options, integrates seamlessly with web offset presses and web finishing lines using a variety of third-party printing towers to add variable data to offset printed materials at a resolution of 600 dpi.
Adphos, GSS, Matti Technology AG, Intro International GmbH, and i-Web (Integrated Web Finishing Systems) have been selected as the first authorized integrators for the PROSPER S-Series System inkjet technology. “Adphos and GSS have partnered with Kodak for more than ten years in providing inkjet integrations, and we were honored to develop the Adphos/GSS TDC for the PROSPER S-Series inkjet technology,” said Niels Frederiksen, President of Adphos North America.
John Sillies, Executive Vice President of GSS added, “The TDC development program has allowed GSS to utilize our web handling and engineering expertise, coupled with Adphos inkjet drying experience, to develop a product that meets the stringent requirements of registration, tension control, and drying of process color inkjet at 1,000 fpm/305 mpm.”
With a print width of 4.16 inches/10.56 cm. and pigment-based process color inks that offer fade, scratch, and water resistance, the PROPSPER S10 System increases throughput and eliminates the need for additional standalone equipment.
“The changing nature of print and communications means that service providers must adapt to meet the needs of their customers, offering a variety of solutions that are best suited to address the individual demands of each project,” added Cohen. “The PROSPER S-Series Imprinting Systems provide an ideal bridge between digital and offset for hybrid applications.”
