Swedens Leading Magazine Printing House Invests in a New Tempo 22
Thursday 06. May 2010 - High-performance saddle stitcher for Sörmlands Grafiska in Katrineholm, Sweden
A fast “Make Ready” system and a high net output – the fact that the Tempo 22 is able to meet both requirements simultaneously convinced Sörmlands Grafiska, located in the Swedish town of Katrineholm, to purchase the high-performance Muller Martini saddle stitcher.
Sörmlands Grafiska – part of the Circle Printers Europe Group – has over 300 employees and produces over 250 titles at its plant in Katrineholm, making it Swedens leading magazine printing house. “Our magazines have runs between 50,000 and 500,000 copies and comprise up to 144 pages,” says Post Press Technician Lars Eliasson. “As a result, we need a saddle stitcher that is quick to change over and can also produce with fast cycle times. Thanks to its simple “Make Ready” system and the high net output, the new Tempo 22 satisfies both requirements.”
The Tempo 22 equipped with the MMAP (Muller Martini Automation Platform) control unit, which has two great benefits for machine operators. MMAP enables a quick overview of the entire production flow and the simple operating philosophy results in quick setup and job changeover times.
The new high-performance system, which goes online in the middle of June at Sörmlands Grafiska, replaces two older Muller Martini saddle stitchers – a SH 300 and a SH 335. The Tempo 22 series comprises four flat pile feeders, a folder feeder, a merchandise tipper, four streamfeeders for automatic signature feeding, a three-knife trimmer, a Robusto stacker and an electrostatic blocking unit.
