Ricoh UK appoints Stephen Palmer as Director, Production Print, Ricoh UK

Thursday 06. May 2010 - Ricoh UK has officially announced the appointment of Stephen Palmer as the head of its production print business.

Stephen boasts a wealth of industry experience having spent the last 25 years in senior management roles with organisations such as Kodak and Danka, and most recently, as managing director of Infotec, following Ricoh’s acquisition of the company in 2007. As part of his principal strategy, Stephen will focus on continuing to grow Ricoh’s production print business within the commercial and corporate sectors, as well as look to significantly increase Ricoh’s market share in the digital print arena.

To help achieve this, Stephen is building a dedicated team, drawn from across the recently enlarged Ricoh Group of companies, to demonstrate to all customers, regardless of sector, that Ricoh has all the expertise and experience to become one of the industry’s market leaders.

Stephen Palmer, Director, Production Print, Ricoh UK comments: “The past few years have been a phenomenal journey for Ricoh. A heavy acquisition trail has seen the company grow substantially and the integration of companies such as Hitachi Data Systems, Infotec and IKON, have not only broadened Ricoh’s product portfolio, they have enabled it to extract the very best technologies and business offerings from across the group and innovate at a rapid pace.”

Stephen has been heavily involved in the company’s business integration, both in his previous and current roles. He says: “You can’t underestimate the scale of this integration. Ricoh has successfully incorporated a number of organisations that have brought various market strengths coupled with established customer portfolios, and I have to say that on the whole, it has gone extremely well. We now have an exceptionally strong business that includes a broad production print offering in the commercial print, in-plant, government and supporting sectors. It is now, as one organisation, that we can truly look to build on our reputation in these markets and demonstrate our knowledge and understanding of our customers’ businesses by developing new products and services that best meet their range of growing requirements.”

Announcements such as the Pro C900 at drupa 2008; and this year in advance of Ipex, the introduction of the Pro C 720 and colour management and web-to-print software solutions, reaffirm Ricoh’s commitment to the market. Initiatives such as its Business Driver Programme, an exclusive package of business development services for Ricoh’s production print customers, also demonstrates that the company is looking at the bigger picture and has placed considerable investment and commitment into becoming the preferred digital print partner of choice.

Stephen concludes: “At Ricoh it really is all about ‘the customer’ and at Ipex, this will be clearly illustrated on our stand through our ‘Just Ask’ campaign. We are running a variety of seminars and initiatives that will truly engage customers and provide them with an opportunity to put our knowledge to the test, and find out more about how we can support them in a market that is diversifying and presenting a host of new marcoms and digital challenges.”
