Adobe PDF Print Engine Delivers High Performance and Reliability – Now Integrated with EFI Color Server and New Xerox Color Systems
Graphic communications industry leaders Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX) and EFI (Nasdaq:EFII) are helping print service providers move more jobs through their shops faster, and in turn, drive greater revenue with the availability of the Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE).
APPE, introduced as the foundation for the next generation of PDF print workflows by Adobe in 2006, is now available for Xerox’s new Color 800/1000 Presses driven by the Xerox EX Print Server Powered by EFI Fiery and Xerox’s FreeFlow Print Server. The technology is displayed in Xerox booth 601 at ON DEMAND, a leading digital printing conference and expo held this week in Philadelphia.
APPE uses the same core imaging technologies as industry-leading Adobe applications, effectively streamlining the hand-off between job creator and printer. For example, APPE provides a significant customer benefit by delivering greater color consistency and workflow flexibility by processing native PDF files without conversion to PostScript. Native PDF rendering improves end-to-end predictability and reliability of the entire print process while reducing delays, prepress prep time and rework. APPE also uses JDF-based automation technologies, resulting in greater overall throughput.
“By harnessing the full power of the PDF imaging model through final rendering, this technology will raise the bar on digital print quality, streamline end-to-end job processing and accelerate production efficiency,” says Dr. Naresh Gupta, senior vice president, Print and Publishing at Adobe.
In combination with the Xerox EX Print Server, Powered by EFI Fiery, and FreeFlow Print Server, APPE accurately renders the most complex designs and maintains the integrity of the job throughout the entire workflow. With native support for ICC color workflows that include transparency, APPE improves the accuracy and consistency of color production and dramatically simplifies color management.
“EFI’s longstanding partnership with Adobe and Xerox has enabled our Fiery servers to stay at the forefront of innovation and technology leadership,” said Toby Weiss, senior vice president and general manager of Fiery, EFI. “Because Fiery servers now support APPE and conventional PostScript interpreter, it guarantees workflow interoperability with all jobs.”
The Xerox Color 800/1000 Presses – printing 80- and 100-pages-per-minute respectively – produce high definition image quality on a wide range of paper stock and include an optional clear dry ink station to amplify full-color jobs.
