AS A KEY PARTNER IN DEVELOPING THE PSRv2 GRAVURE STANDARD, GMG OFFERS THE NEW PSRv2 PROFILES FOR ALL RELEVANT PROOFING SYSTEMS AS OF NOW

Thursday 25. March 2010 - GMG, developer and supplier of high-end color management and proofing solutions, announces the availability of the new PSRv2 profiles for the paper types LWC Standard, LWC Plus, SC Standard, and SC Plus for a wide range of proofing systems.

Version 5.1 of GMG ColorProof is thus the only proofing software to support the complete PSRv2 gravure standard on all currently relevant proof printers from Epson, HP and Canon with the GMG proofing media GMG ProofPaper semimatte 250 and ProofPaper semimatte light. This is the first time that GMG has released the PSRv2 proofing parameters for the proof printers from HP and Canon.

As a partner of the ECI (European Color Initiative), GMG has been advancing the development of the new standards since 2007. The ECI “Gravure Working Group” specified and implemented the PSRv2 standards in close cooperation with GMG. In this context, GMG played a key role in developing the test charts and the test forme, as well as in specifying and analyzing the reference prints and the printing conditions.

PSR_SCplus_v2 is exclusively a GMG development. Based on PSR_SC_v2, GMG has adapted this standard to SC Plus papers, and received a rating of “very good” from the ECI following extensive production tests. As a result, this standard has been included in the series of PSRv2 standards as an official gravure printing standard.

Olaf Druemmer, Chairman of the ECI, expressly thanked GMG for its great commitment to the “realization of this milestone in the standardization of gravure printing”. “It would have been impossible to achieve the high quality of PSRv2 without the help of the participating printers and leading industry partners like GMG,” said Druemmer.

In addition to the complete list of PSR proofing profiles, users of GMG ColorServer color management software can already download most of the profiles for conversion from and to the new standards, or to all potential reference color spaces, from the Support area of the GMG Web site.
