Kodaks Digital Printing Solutions Help Printers and Publishers Write the Sequel to Book Production at the INTERQUEST 2010 Digital Book Forum
Monday 15. March 2010 - At the fifth annual INTERQUEST 2010 Digital Book Printing Forum, Kodaks Eric Owen will discuss trends in the book market and ways that book publishers and printers can improve supply chain and operational efficiencies with Kodaks digital book production solutions.
Owen, Worldwide Market Development Director, Digital Printing Solutions for Kodak, will participate in the Leading Vendors Executive Panel from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. on March 9 at the New York Marriott Marquis Times Square.
“A series of trends in book publishing, such as shorter run lengths, supply chain waste, the popularity of e-books and the rise of self-publishing, has put the book market at a tipping point,” said Owen. “For publishers seeking a new business model based on these trends, our digital printing systems allow for efficient, just-in-time production of books for run-lengths up to 7,000. These digital solutions take costs out of the supply chain while delivering offset class quality.”
For print service providers, digital printing provides tremendous gains in productivity and flexibility to adapt to market changes. For publishers, the process of digitally printing short runs through just-in-time production helps reduce print overruns, which cuts down on obsolete products and the need for costly warehousing.
Kodaks technologies and solutions for digital book production include the KODAK PROSPER Press Platform featuring KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology, KODAK NEXPRESS and NEXPRESS SE Digital Production Color Presses and the KODAK DIGIMASTER EX Production Platform.
