Xerox “widens” line of technical printers; new compact wide format system is big on features
Wednesday 03. February 2010 - Black-and-white device offers sharp image quality, colour scanning, copying and printing
Architectural, engineering and construction companies, manufacturing firms and commercial print shops have an affordable new option for their black-and-white technical documents. Xerox’s Wide Format 6605 solution marks the eleventh wide format product the company has unveiled in the last two years.
The compact new Xerox 6605 integrates copying, scanning and printing with sharp image quality, colour scanning and an easy-to-use interface. The system employs 600 x 600 dpi copying, scanning and printing technology to ensure crisp accurate image quality on jobs such as construction plans, electrical wiring diagrams or mapping. The on-board colour scanner allows for hard copy documents to be scanned to electronic files or can copy existing prints of all standard sizes and up to 15metres in length.
The printer can produce up to five A1 size images per minute and a two-roll paper option offers greater printing capacity. The 15-inch (381 mm) colour touch screen and intuitive user interface make it easy to operate, even for users that don’t have familiarity with production printers.
“The new Xerox Wide Format 6605 solution is an extremely easy to use device that offers great image quality, proven reliability and impressive productivity.” said Howard Witt, Wide Format Manager, Xerox Europe. “This exciting new printer joins an extensive range of Xerox wide format devices that are available from an increasing number of resellers as Xerox expands its distribution channels right across Europe. Xerox continues to invest in the development and expansion of its wide format business.”
New features on the 6605 include:
Scan Preview – real time preview of the document as it is scanned, giving the user confidence of the image quality.
Queue Management – jobs are shown as thumbnails on the user interface, pending jobs can be re-prioritised and completed jobs can be reprinted.
Colour Copying – Xerox’s new and market leading Q-Copy software allows users to scan images and send them automatically to a network connected colour printer, of any brand and with full copy and scaling control.
On-Line Folding – the optional on-line folder automates the folding process when both printing and copying.
Availability
The Xerox 6605 Solution will be available for order and installation from November 2009. As all Xerox wide format solutions are modular, 6204 customers can upgrade their system to a 6605.
