Frontprint takes third large-format Rapida
Wednesday 11. November 2009 - Largest Scandinavian PoS printer remains a fan of KBA
In summer of this year, PoS specialist Frontprint from Arlöv near Malmö/Sweden placed an order for the company’s third large-format offset press from KBA, a six-colour Rapida 162a with inline coating. Founded only in 1982, Frontprint is today one of the leading packaging and display printers in Scandinavia and operates production facilities in Sweden, Denmark and China.

Models from KBA’s large-format Rapida 162a and Rapida 142 series have already been the presses of choice for some time.

The new Rapida 162a (format 120 x 162 cm) is destined to handle substrates up to a thickness of 1.2 mm. It has been configured with accessory packages for ecological printing and for high-quality UV finishing, and is scheduled to enter production by the end of November. Important equipment features include the Inline Cut System ICS (sheet slitter), a coating supply and cleaning system for aqueous and UV coatings, with a temperature control unit and a second media circuit to permit alternation between the two coating types, the colour measurement and control system DensiTronic professional with spectral capabilities, and LogoTronic networking to the prepress department. Fully automatic plate changers and automated forme changing for the coater tower further enhance the level of press automation. The use of these new technologies is expected to achieve a reduction in environment burdens by around 23 per cent.
