Closure Systems International Announces Expansion in India

Wednesday 04. November 2009 - To meet the rapidly increasing demand for beverage closures in India, Closure Systems International (CSI) announced today that it will open a plastic closure plant near the city of Bangalore, in the state of Karnataka, in southern India.

The plant is scheduled to begin production in early 2010. It will be the second CSI plant dedicated to serving the India market and the 31st closure production plant in the global CSI system. The plant will include the latest in closure manufacturing technology, as well as a flexible plant design that provides the capability to scale up capacity quickly and efficiently in the future. Employment opportunities at the manufacturing facility along with local sourcing of raw materials from within India will also provide a favorable economic impact to the region.

“We are committed to increasing our presence in this important growth region,” said Lance Mitchell, CSI President. “Our major global and regional beverage customers are significantly increasing their investment within India, and we are pleased to be able to expand in this region to support our customer’s growth. CSI will be the first major closure company to manufacture caps in South India, showing our commitment to locally satisfy current and projected closure demand for our beverage customers.”

The new plant increases CSI’s presence in Middle East/Africa/India to now include four manufacturing plants and multiple sales offices throughout the region. “The Bangalore plant will position CSI manufacturing closer to our key customers, ensuring reliable on-time supply and enhancing environmental sustainability,” stated Sunil Sharma, General Manager CSI India / Nepal. “In addition, CSI will continue to provide expert technical services and high-speed capping equipment to our customers as we expand the adoption of our popular short-height ‘mini’ closure portfolio throughout the Indian sub-continent.”

For more than 60 years, CSI has provided bottlers with an integrated closure and capping “systems” solution, which delivers the lowest cost of operation and peak bottling efficiency.
