Ricohs European production facility based in the UK scoops two prestigious awards for business excellence
Tuesday 27. October 2009 - One of Ricohs European production sites, Ricoh UK Products Ltd, based in Telford and Wellingborough, UK has been awarded two prestigious awards at the 2009 British Quality Foundation UK Excellence Awards ceremony.
HRH the Princess Royal presented Ricoh UK Products Ltd with the UK Excellence Award and the Gold Medal for Excellence. The Gold Medal for Excellence is awarded annually by the Board of Directors of the British Quality Foundation to a single organisation which has demonstrated outstanding and sustained commitment to excellence. The recipient is regarded as a high performing organisation, respected in the business community, and dedicated to business excellence. Ricoh is only the second organisation in the UK to receive this recognition.
The UK Excellence Award aims to identify organisations that have significantly improved business performance and increased competitiveness. Winning the award is one of the highest accolades any organisation in the UK can achieve. Following their evaluation of Ricoh the assessing team concluded, “Ricoh UK Products Ltd has clearly demonstrated its manifestly high-level of excellence throughout the assessment. It has clearly shown continuing improvement and success since 2005 when it won the UK Excellence Award. This is exemplified by its superbly clean, well organised factories at Telford and Wellingborough”
Also acclaimed was its approach to corporate social responsibility, the assessors said, “Approaches to society are particularly comprehensive and the results are consequently strong. Sustainability approaches are particularly strong through C02 reduction, zero waste to landfill and energy reduction.”
Regarding people development and involvement the assessors concluded, “Ricoh UK Products Ltd has implemented clear and sound approaches to people management. This results in a totally pervasive and dynamic culture of continuous improvement which captures the hearts as well as the minds of the employees.”
