Agfa Graphics shows new :Arkitex software at IFRA Expo 2009
Wednesday 28. October 2009 - Agfa Graphics introduces print buyer collaboration for newspapers with :Arkitex Portal.
The newspaper industry is constantly changing. Contract printing has become a widely accepted business model in the newspaper industry. For these contract printers to be successful, they need to be able to offer short time-to-press and in-full delivery at a competitive price.
“To endorse this increasingly important business model, Agfa Graphics have developed a new :Arkitex module which addresses contract printers’ specific needs,” said Andy Grant, Software Development Manager at Agfa Graphics. “They need an easy to use, dedicated solution to facilitate the collaboration between the customer and the service supplier. It starts with uploading files (rather than exchanging CD’s or emails), the job definition, selection of production parameters, checking of soft proofs and eventually approval for print. With :Arkitex Portal we offer all that in a print-specifier friendly web enabled user interface.”
:Arkitex Portal is the latest member of the :Arkitex Enterprise Suite. It works in tandem with :Arkitex Prepress systems to ensure that pre-production requirements are accurately translated into production data. The publisher is given access to :Arkitex Portal to submit files, which are automatically taken through a sequence of processing steps. This sequence may well be different for each customer or job and contains processes like publication planning, pre-flighting, proofing and approval.
“Once jobs are submitted in the system, a production overview allows the customer to track the status planning, imposition and plate making. This is what collaboration is all about. All this is available 24/7.”
:Arkitex Portal is a guarantee for efficient and straightforward communication, generating fool-proof interaction between publisher and printer.
:Arkitex Portal will be shown at IFRA 2009 Wien at the Agfa Graphics booth (B560).
