CANON U.S.A. INTRODUCES NEW DOCUMENT SHARING SERVER IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE imageRUNNER ADVANCE SERIES LAUNCH
Thursday 24. September 2009 - New imageWARE Document Server Extends the Ability to Share Documents, Driving Advanced Collaboration
To make it easier to share and manage documents using the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging and office solutions, today introduced imageWARE Document Server, a document management application designed to expand upon the sophisticated collaborative capabilities of the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series.
imageWARE Document Server represents the server component of a comprehensive collaboration and document management solution. The newly announced imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series of multifunction devices incorporates an abundant collection of features designed to facilitate collaboration and sharing of documents. To fully take advantage of this technology and to extend the interaction of the powerful MFP to desktop users, Canon also introduced imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop utility software on the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series. Users can utilize imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop for desktop publishing, remote device monitoring and personal document storage/management activities. When using the software for personal document management activities, the addition of imageWARE Document Server will enable the same users to share documents with other personnel in workgroups or departments within their organization.
imageWARE Document Server is a server application that simply connects the imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop utility and enables workers to collaborate and share information in a networked environment. imageWARE Document Server incorporates a variety of popular document management functions, such as Check In/Check Out, Version Control, Full Text Search, Audit Trail and User Index Search. imageWARE Document Server was developed using Windows SharePoint Services, Microsoft’s popular and reliable collaboration platform, helping to make the system easy to deploy and enable IT administrators to easily manage and configure the system from any personal computer using a Web browser.
“The new imageWARE Document Server will help to further extend the information reach of knowledge workers to the departmental level,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. “The combination of imageWARE Document Server and the advanced desktop and device functionality built into the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series will allow workers to easily share and manage information and documents with co-workers.”
imageWARE Document Server, licensed on a per server basis, is expected to be available for purchase and shipment during the fourth quarter of this year through Canon authorized dealers and Canon Business Solutions locations. Suggested retail pricing for the software will be made available at the time of product shipment.
