FUJIFILM Javelin a Trusted CTP Solution

Thursday 24. September 2009 - CTP Series Celebrating 10th Anniversary, Running Live at PRINT 09

Fujifilm’s Javelin series of CTP devices has long been an industry favorite, thanks to its speed, quality and flexibility, and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The Javelin series of 8-page thermal CTP devices now includes nine models, including the Javelin 8600S with its 22 plates per hour, and will be on display Sept.11-16, 2009 at Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center during PRINT 09.

With its versatility and high performance levels, ranging from 8-51 plates per hour, the Fujifilm Javelin Series of 8-page thermal platesetters is helping printers all over the country achieve the productivity and efficiency they need. Thermal CTP technology offers a number of advantages, including sharp dots, superior run lengths and easy daylight handling, and Fujifilm’s Javelin is at the leading edge of the thermal market.

“Our industry has improved to the point that being able to produce the highest quality product on a constant basis is a given,” states Guy Wilcomb, vice president of Triangle Printing Company in York, Penn. “Being confident in your ability to produce a sharp, accurate dot consistently across the plate is an absolute must. This platesetter helps us ensure that we’re able to do that.”

Made up of nine models, the new Javelin CTP devices offer productivity levels to better meet the needs of commercial printers. The 8800 series is ultra-fast, producing anywhere from 24-51 plates per hour. Additionally, the Javelin 8800E and the 8800S can both be upgraded to the 8800Z in the field, to meet future production needs and ensure the longevity of the device.

“With the help of Fujifilm, we were able to make the steps into the digital world a little smoother. It certainly made my life a lot easier,” says Neal Bassett, production manager at Ag Press in Manhattan, Kan.

The Javelin 8800 series uses a high power LD (50W) light source. An optical head with the latest GLV (Grating Light Valve) technology provides a fast and ultra-precise method of transferring digital images to the plate, making it possible for users to further increase productivity.

“The Javelin makes an incredibly sharp dot and our clients often comment on how sharp their images are,” Cody Curry, owner of Texas’ Curry Printing, says. “We’re extremely happy with the images that the device puts out.”

The Javelin Series is comprised of nine different levels of productivity, designed to suit each printer’s production and ROI needs, including:
• Javelin 8300E – an entry-level CTP, producing 8pph, upgradeable to the 8300S
• Javelin 8300S – a mid-level platesetter, producing 13pph
• Javelin 8600E – a mid-level platesetter, producing 14pph, upgradeable to the 8600S
• Javelin 8600S – a high-speed platesetter, producing 22pph
• Javelin 8600Z ¬- a high-speed platesetter, producing 22pph plus 4000dpi
• Javelin 8800E – an ultra-fast platesetter, producing up to 24pph, upgradeable to the 8800S
• Javelin 8800S – an ultra-fast platesetter, producing up to 32pph, upgradeable to the 8800Z
• Javelin 8800Z – a speedy platesetter, producing up to 42pph
• Javelin 8800ZX – the fastest platesetter in its class, producing up to 51pph

The Javelin supports plates ranging from 12″ x 14-9/16″ to the oversized 37″ x 45-21/32″, including Fujifilm’s Brillia HD thermal plates and Ecomaxx-T, the company’s processless thermal plate.

The Javelin series achieves its speed thanks to an advanced, automated, lightweight clamping and vacuum system, which keeps plates fully secure even as the drum spins at up to 900 rpm. The series of CTP devices also feature an internal punch, enabling perfect registration on-press. The Javelin punches just before the plate is mounted on the drum, which eliminates human error and gives much greater accuracy than both manual and off-line punching.

The unique two-tray system for semi-automatic plate loading and unloading maximizes productivity. The Javelin series can be configured for fully automatic, continuous operation with the optional SAL single cassette autoloader or the MAL multi-cassette autoloader and the T-9001 conveyor processor bridge.

The Javelin series of platesetters is also compatible with Fujifilm’s screening options, including both Co-Res Screening and TAFFETA FM Screening.
