Océ Helps Customers Capture More Opportunities for Applications Requiring State-of-the-Art Digital Security Features

Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced that customers are successfully printing checks and other documents with a variety of security features made available on Océ JetStream high-speed color inkjet systems. From healthcare firms producing explanations of benefits, to marketers like Direct Group creating promotional checks, companies are benefitting from secure document printing on Océ JetStream systems with integrated Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR), and security features provided by Arcis Digital Security, Inc.
“Océ has been an industry leader in producing secure document solutions for some time. We’ve already moved beyond the potential to the practical, with customers benefitting today from the Océ JetStream family of high-speed color inkjet systems with integrated MICR, combined with state-of-the-art security features from Arcis Digital. Our customers can capture check printing business and other opportunities requiring embedded security features. The check printing market alone produces approximately 50 billion checks produced every year, and we are helping our customers take advantage of this opportunity,” said Guy Broadhurst, Vice President of New Technology and Client Development, Production Printing Systems division, Océ North America.
Starting from plain white roll stock, the Océ JetStream system can print colored base stocks, colored shells, required check security features, personalization, and MICR lines, all in one pass. Océ JetStream customers can streamline their production environments with a workflow based on a model of “plain white paper in; finished secured product out.” Another outcome is a more sustainable process, since materials are used on demand, instead of having excess or outdated inventory entering the waste stream.
The Océ JetStream family was the first to integrate the MICR feature into a full process digital inkjet color engine as an all-in-one solution to support both high-volume color inkjet printing and MICR applications on a single platform. As a result, print professionals can produce convenience and full-color checks with complete reliability, security and error recovery. The technology, which won Océ the 2009 Innovator of the Year from Xplor International, demonstrates Océs commitment to continuing innovation on the Océ JetStream platform and to customers’ MICR applications.
“We have integrated our Digital Void Pantograph technology into the Océ JetStream system, thereby allowing Océ customers to incorporate a reliable and well recognized anti-copy technology as an alternative to buying pre-printed security paper stock. More importantly, it can also provide a whole new level of on-demand variable security capability found only in the emergent digital frontier,” said Andrew McTaggart, Managing Director, of Arcis Digital Security Inc.
Working closely with Arcis Digital Security, Océ gives customers access to anti-copy, anti-fraud security features like void pantographs and Prismatic Design Document for secure document and check printing. The Prismatic Design Document is a special prismatic color printed on a document for added security. By meeting specific security requirements for check printing, Océ customers like Direct Group have registered with the Check Payment Systems Association (CPSA), allowing them to use the check padlock icon. This certification gives companies added credibility and a competitive advantage. Océ is also a registered member of CPSA.
