Presstek Introduces New Polyester CTP Solution
Friday 11. September 2009 - Presstek DPM Pro 400 offers larger format size, significant reduction in chemistry use
Presstek, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRST), a leading manufacturer and marketer of digital offset printing solutions, today announced the Presstek DPM Pro 400, a polyester CTP platesetter. The DPM Pro 400 is an excellent solution for commercial and in-plant printers that utilize small format presses. The DPM Pro 400 will be introduced at Print 09, which is scheduled for September 11-16 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Presstek can be found in Booth 3646 at the show.
“We are excited to be bringing new capabilities to the polyester CTP market,” said Kathleen McHugh, Pressteks Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “The DPM Pro 400 produces high resolution polyester plates ranging from 9-inches to over 16-inches. This flexibility allows the DPM Pro to support a wider array of applications. The 9-inch plates are excellent for business card and smaller format applications and the larger widths allow for landscape format printing, which is ideal for European printing requirements.”
The DPM Pro 400 brings new technology features and environmental advancements to Pressteks polyester CTP portfolio. The DPM Pro 400 images plates for both portrait and landscape format presses and supports screen rulings up to 175 lpi. Its built-in processor provides extremely stable plate development and uses up to two-thirds less chemistry as compared to most other units on the market. The DPM Pro 400 uses Presstek enhanced MEGAPRO polyester and paper-based plates with the new MEGA LC chemistry. Plates produced on the DPM Pro 400 will deliver wider press latitude, better ink and water balance, faster press rollup and increased ink stability.
Other key features include:
Capable of imaging at 1200, 1500, 1800 or 2400 dpi
Able to produce up to 78 plates per hour at 1200 dpi, with the first plate available
in less than two minutes
Supports plate formats from 9″ to 16.31″ (229 mm to 414 mm) in width, and 8.65″ to 22.83″ (220 mm to 580 mm) in length, with a maximum imaging width of 15.9″ (404 mm)
Optional punching systems are available
“We will be taking orders for the DPM Pro 400 at Print 09,” added McHugh. “First customer shipments are planned for the first quarter of 2010. We believe this will be an attractive solution for small to mid-sized and in-plant printers seeking an affordable, entry-level polyester CTP solution for smaller format presses. In addition, the expanded capabilities of the DPM Pro 400 provide an excellent upgrade path for customers with previous models of DPM platesetters.”
