Nordwest Zeitung adopts EidosMedia multiple-media solution
Thursday 10. September 2009 - The German regional daily will move its print and online operations to the Méthode publishing platform.
Based in Oldenburg in the Lower Saxony region of Germany, the NordWest Zeitung serves a large regional readership through eight print editions and the portal www.nwzonline.de.
Following an agreement between EidosMedia and the papers IT subsidiary MSP (Medien Systempartner GmbH & Co. KG), production of the print editions and the online portal will be transferred to the Méthode multiple-media publishing platform. The project will also include migration of the existing DocCenter archive to the Méthode content management system.
“We selected Méthode following a careful evaluation of a pilot project involving both editorial and technical staff,” said Rolf Seelheim, NWZs managing editor. “We were particularly impressed by the flexibility of the multiple-channel features which will allow us to share content between print and Web editions, and the digital archive giving staff access to a complete range of multimedia assets.”
The Méthode installation will serve around 180 users distributed between the central newsroom and 18 local offices. As well as the daily print editions, Méthode will also be used to produce a series of regular supplements and magazines.
“The NWZ is by far the leading source of news and information for comunities in this area of Germany,” commented Holger Hofmann, general manager of EidosMedia GmbH. “The move to Méthode will allow them to stay closer to the changing needs and expectations of their audiences and the available technology.”
The Méthode solution replaces an existing Atex-Hermes editorial system, as well as an Atex-DocCenter archive system.
