GMG ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECT BUSINESS MODEL IN UK
Wednesday 02. September 2009 - GMG, developer and supplier of high-end color management and proofing solutions, announces a new 'direct-to-consumer' business operation.
From today, GMG products in the UK will only be available direct from GMG UK and a small number of strategic partnerships. The company has recruited a team of highly-skilled color management professionals as GMG regional consultants: Toby Burnett, Aaron Broome, Simon Landau and Ian Prosser have extensive industry experience and are now GMG UK’s primary sales contacts around the UK.
“Our intention is to offer unique services and complete solutions in order to improve the overall value delivered to customers,” says Paul Willems, Managing Director of GMG GmbH & Co. KG. “In the UK we are convinced that, due to market conditions, our customers will benefit more from a manufacturer-owned channel. A direct route to market will enable us to deepen our relationship with our customers and our industry partners. The condition, however, is that we put in place at GMG UK a strong team of professionals 100% focused on delivering a level of support to our customers that they have never enjoyed before. To our customers this means unprecedented access to best-in-class products and services from one source and direct support from the German head office team”, adds Willems.
GMG UK offers complete color solutions for a wide variety of prepress and printing processes e.g. offset, gravure, and digital, for the full range of commercial, publishing, packaging and large format applications. These encompass the unique GMG software range for the complete color management workflow from creation to printing, leading hardware (printers, measuring devices, PCs etc) consulting and technical support services. The company’s solutions for high-end digital proofing, color conversions, ink reduction and standardization of printing processes are suitable for almost every printer, prepress business, publisher or advertising agency.
Ian Scott, Managing Director of GMG UK, believes the time is right for GMG to focus on the brand’s strengths and to build on its positive reputation. “Quality and efficiency become ever more critical in the graphic arts industry. Companies are looking to GMG to provide high levels of quality, ROI, expertise and support. Our new team will be able to offer our customers increased access and knowledge, so they can take full advantage of the increasing GMG range of products”, declares Scott.
Harold Chapman, Managing Director of Saxon Digital Services in Norwich and GMG customer, says: “We’ve been using GMG products for six years now and the idea of dealing direct with the GMG sales and support team is very appealing to us. The increased level of service, expertise and focus will enable us to maximise our investment in GMG software and give our business the edge we need. We’re looking forward to an even better GMG offering.”
As GMG UK will also be offering products by Epson, X-rite, and a small number of other bespoke color management products, the new ‘direct-to-consumer’ model affects its collaboration with business and technology partners. Duncan Ferguson, Director of Pro-Graphics & New Business Development at Epson Europe, comments: “Epson has a long and deep relationship with GMG in high quality large format printing, and recognises GMG as one of the world’s leading companies in understanding and maximising the potential of Epson’s unique micro-piezo inkjet, and Ultrachrome ink technologies. We view the decision taken by GMG to manage its customers directly in the UK as a positive development in terms of the excellent knowledge and service that can be provided regarding Epson’s products, and we intend to work closely with GMG to ensure our mutual customers receive the very best level of support in the future.”
