New Lightweight 38mm Design from Closure Systems International
Friday 14. August 2009 - Closure Systems Internationals new Extra-Lok 38mm OD closure for non-carbonated beverage applications provides robust sealing performance and outstanding capping application in a new lightweight cap design. The closure is engineered to be up to 30% lighter than standard 38mm profiles, making it the lightest 2-piece 38mm closure on the market.
CSIs unique liner system enables customers to reduce their bottle finish thickness without compromising performance, and is compatible with existing 1842, 1843, and 1845 bottle finishes in either a crystallized or non-crystallized format.
In addition to the cost and environmental benefits associated with lighter-weight packaging, the caps features also ensure safe opening for the consumer. The closure is designed to maintain a secure seal on all types of filled packages, including hot-fill vacuum packages. If there is post opening product spoilage, the design ensures a safe consumer opening experience by venting any generated excessive pressure.
The molded-in liner extends the application range of the closure to include hot-fill, cold-fill, and aseptic-fill products. “The closures have been running flawlessly in major customer bottling plants,” said John Ziegler, CSI Global Marketing Manager. “Another important feature our customers value is the patented Extra-Lok tamper band, which provides proven tamper evidence and product security.”
