Cereplast Finds Success at Major International Plastic Show

Wednesday 22. July 2009 - Company Attracts Substantial Number of New Prospects for Its Bio-based Resins

Cereplast, Inc. (OTC BB: CERP), developer of proprietary bio-based sustainable plastics, today announced that its presence at NPE2009, the International Plastics Showcase, was a success and resulted in a substantial number of new prospects. The event produced by the Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) and co-located with the Society of Plastics Engineers’ ANTEC 2009, is the world’s largest plastics technical conference and attracted in excess of 45,000 visitors.

Despite the effects of the economic downturn, interest in Cereplast’s bio-based plastics was high and the company attracted serious inquiries from a very large number of domestic and international plastic converters, brand-owners and designers. “The show was extremely busy for us, non-stop from early morning to late night and more important, the quality of the visits was very good and we met a lot of decision makers,” said Philippe Ravera, Cereplast’s Senior VP Sales and Marketing. “We enjoyed meeting our regular customers, distributors, potential customers, brand-owners and international visitors from five continents. We are convinced this event will bring additional business during the third and fourth quarters of 2009,” Ravera added.

“The attention received by Cereplast and the NPE bioplastics pavilion confirm that in spite of the economy the level of interest in bioplastics remains very high,” said Frederic Sheer, Chairman and CEO of Cereplast. “Analysts predict a growth for the bioplastic industry of 30% a year for the next five years and the level of activity at NPE 2009 confirmed a very bright future.”
