KBA Asia Pacific moves to new premises in Kuala Lumpur
Thursday 09. July 2009 - KBA gears up for post-recession growth
As the worlds first and oldest press manufacturer, KBA has developed close ties with many sectors of the Malaysian print market. Having made its mark among sheetfed printers KBA has become a major provider of security, metal decorating, UV offset, industrial ID and newspaper presses.
Its client base includes The New Straits Times Press (NSTP), whose big KBA Commander press lines print Malaysias leading newspaper, and KHL Printing, where a single-width KBA Comet is in operation. The commercial and packaging sectors boast a slew of KBA Rapida sheetfed presses.
Malaysia is an important market for all press manufactures as it is an ideal location for the entire Southeast Asia rim. This is one of the reasons why all major press manufacturers have established sales and service bases here.
After working with regional agents for many years, in 1997 KBA set up its own subsidiary, KBA Asia Pacific, to support the web market. The Kuala Lumpur office was followed in 2002 by a sheetfed counterpart, KBA Singapore, and as sales took off the Kuala Lumpur operation also created a dedicated sheetfed service team.
On 1 July KBA Asia Pacific moved to bigger premises at the Sunway Damansara Technology Park on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, with convenient motorway access to the north and south of the country. It also expanded its 14-strong sales and service team and set up a spacious new spare-parts store and a workshop. Training facilities will soon be available for customers throughout Southeast Asia.
Malaysia and the dynamic ASEAN economies will continue to play a major role in KBAs growth strategy. Unlike other manufacturers, who are busy cutting back, KBA is gearing up for a post-recession recovery. As a technology leader in many core sectors, the group is not content to rest on its laurels.
