Colonial Printing Replaces Two Older Presses with New Komori Press

Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that Colonial Printing recently installed a five-color Komori Lithrone S40 (LS540) press with advanced interface (AI) and self-learning function at its 44,000 square foot printing facility in Warwick, Rhode Island. Catering to a high-end clientele that includes advertising agencies, universities, and retailers, the LS540 AI replaced two older presses. Due to the advanced interface of the pressa feature designed to expand a printers range of prospective customers by meeting needs with fast turnaround and reduced operator workloadthe company reports it is producing the same amount of applications on the new press, is experiencing a 50% reduction in the consumption of electricity and solvents, and has reduced its labor requirements.
“Our press operators call our LS540 AI the magic press,” said Ken Menna, vice president and co-owner of Colonial Printing. “This new machine is by far the best press weve ever purchased. If we experience issues with an application on another press, we run the job on the LS540 AI and the issue just goes away.” Menna also stated that Komori has been an excellent partner. “Komoris response to our needs is instantaneous, and its service is second to none.”
The advanced technology of the LS540 AI was of major importance to Colonial Printing in the companys purchasing decision. The new AI software allows for faster makeready times, reduced job cycle time and significantly reduces makeready waste.
