TAOPIX OPENS SINGAPORE OFFICE AND APPOINTS PRESIDENT FOR ASIAN OPERATION
Monday 06. July 2009 - Photobook software specialist, TAOPIX, announces the opening of a regional office based in Singapore to support its rapidly expanding Asian customer base. Richard Watson has been appointed as president of the Asian operation effective from 1st July 2009.
Mr. Watson brings with him to the role over 17 years of business development, sales and leadership experience in the printing industry, including senior sales roles with Scitex, NUR Macroprinters, Honeywell and most recently as general manager, Asia, for workflow software developer, Press-Sense. Watson will be responsible for rolling out the companys ambitious sales strategy for its TAOPIX V 2.1 end-to-end photo book workflow solution in key markets in the Asia-Pacific region including China, Japan, India, and Australia.
Says James Gray, CEO, TAOPIX: “While we are relatively new to the Asian market, we already have some very large commercial printers, photo labs and digital printers as customers. However, our traditional route to market in Asia has always been via our UK office. As a recognised hub for regional commerce, Singapore is the perfect place for our first office in Asia and will provide us with excellent access to what is a geographically and economically a huge marketplace.
“Richard is well respected in the Asian printing industry, has a strong, proven track record in sales and brings with him a deep knowledge of the key regional markets. He has the contacts to quickly establish strong, effective sales and distribution channels right across the region which is going to be critical for us if we are to take advantage of the opportunities in what is actually a very buoyant photobook market. This local knowledge cant be overestimated in a region as culturally and economically diverse as Asia.”
Says Richard Watson, president, TAOPIX, Asia: “I believe customisable photo book printing represents the largest application opportunity in printing today, and I want to be part of this opportunity. Im looking forward to playing a key role in a company that has the ambition and drive to become a leader in its field. The greater Asia-Pacific region represents approximately 80 percent of the worlds population and consumer awareness of the photo book production market is in its infancy so the potential for a product like TAOPIX V2.1 is nothing short of phenomenal.”
