Harland Simon to Replace Press Controls at Derby
Wednesday 24. June 2009 - Harmsworth Printing Ltd has chosen Harland Simon to replace the press controls on the Goss HT press at its print site in Derby.
The press currently has a Rockwell Automation press control system. Following a detailed tendering process, involving all the major suppliers, HPL decided to contract Harland Simon to replace the existing system whilst keeping the press in daily production. Its the kind of project for which Harland Simon has established an enviable reputation, having replaced a significant number of its competitors systems on running presses both in the UK and North America. Often the opportunity to upgrade the controls comes about when the press itself is extended or upgraded, but this is not the case at Derby so perhaps the project points to a new trend in which print sites are able to justify a controls upgrade purely in terms of the benefits it will bring in its own right.
Rob Watson, Harland Simons Sales Director, added, Were delighted to receive this order from HPL. It shows that performance, reliability and supportability are becoming ever more important as print sites look beyond the current downturn and look to position themselves for the predicted upturn in business. Harland Simon will be there for them regardless of whose system they use at present.
The new system will see three press control desks replaced by Harland Simons industry acclaimed Prima 6000 control consoles and the addition of a Prima press management and presetting system. The project is scheduled for completion before Christmas 2009.
