Kodak Brings Continued Innovation to Package Printers
Thursday 18. June 2009 - First-of-its-kind recycling system and new chemistry reduce environmental footprint
Designed to dramatically enhance the quality of flexographic printing for applications such as tags and labels, folding cartons, and flexible packages, the KODAK FLEXCEL NX Digital Flexographic System enables offset class, gravure quality results for packaging professionals. The production benefits and consistent quality achieved with the FLEXCEL NX System give package printers a competitive advantage.
“The FLEXCEL NX System is helping converters and printers increase profitability by introducing a much greater level of productivity,” said John Cross, General Manager, Packaging Products, Kodak. “A number of associations in the packaging industry have recognized the systems ability to transform flexo printing. Just last month, the Flexographic Technical Association named the FLEXCEL NX System the sole recipient of the 2009 Technical Innovation Award.”
The integrated KODAK FLEXCEL NX Digital Flexographic System includes a choice of KODAK TRENDSETTER NX Narrow or Mid Imager, KODAK FLEXCEL NX Laminator, the KODAK FLEXCEL NX Thermal Imaging Layer, KODAK FLEXCEL NX Digital Flexographic Plates, and is designed to complement the KODAK PRINERGY Workflow System for Packaging.
At PRINT 09, Kodak will showcase two new additions to the range of KODAK FLEXCEL Products that will vastly improve the experience of flexographic solvent processing. The KODAK FLEXCEL LO Washout Solution represents the first flexographic chemistry product to carry the Kodak brand and is designed to deliver optimum platemaking performance with low odor and reduced volatile organic compounds (VOC) content.
Also new, the KODAK FLEXCEL Cold Recycling Smart System (CRS) is a first-of-its-kind system for flexographic washout solution recycling. It provides an innovative, safe and more environmentally friendly alternative to distillation that will change the way customers handle washout solutions. The FLEXCEL CRS System helps flexographic platemakers operate more efficiently and meet their sustainability goals.
“The FLEXCEL CRS System signals a true breakthrough in washout recycling for the flexo industry,” added Cross. “These two new additions to the FLEXCEL Product family take flexographic plate processing to the next level. Packaging is a growing, dynamic market, and printers are always looking for innovative solutions to meet the increasing demands of brand owners for high quality, repeatability, cost effectiveness and sustainability.”
