Pitney Bowes Supports Literacy & Education Initiatives Through Weekend Fundraiser For The Fishing School

Wednesday 10. June 2009 - Jon Love, President, Pitney Bowes Government Solutions (PBGS) and Board member, The Fishing School, will be available to discuss Pitney Bowes’s efforts in support of The Fishing School and how this ties into the company’s focus on and support of literacy and education initiatives.

WHAT:
The Fishing School (TFS) is a nationally-recognized youth development organization that provides children and families with academic and parental support through community-based centers located in Wards 6 and 7 in Washington, DC. “GONE FISHIN’…In the Rivers of the Mind: ‘Lobstah’ Fest” is the fundraiser to benefit The Fishing School.

WHERE:
National Harbor Pier
National Harbor, Maryland

WHEN:
Saturday, June 13, 2009
6 p.m.

WHY:
President Obama recently noted that there are millions of mothers and fathers who are lying awake at night wondering if next week’s paycheck will cover next month’s bills. Many parents are struggling to meet living expenses and can’t afford to pay for the support services offered by TFS. The fundraiser is to support TFS in providing a safe environment for children after school and during the summer months where students have access to academic support through tutoring, financial literacy, life skills training, and enrichment and cultural programs. TFS also provides important support services, including parenting workshops, to the parents of its students.

Opportunities for interviews and photos available.
