Pankarte opens it doors to HP large format digital printing
Monday 08. June 2009 - Company uses HP digital technology to produce Point of Purchase advertising
HP today announced that Pankarte PLV, based in Strasbourg, France, has purchased an HP Scitex FB6700 Printer as a flatbed printing solution for small print runs with a low environmental impact.
Founded by Michel Hartmann in his garage in 1989, over the last 20 years Pankarte PLV hasbecome a Point-of-Purchase (POP) application specialist. Having been passionate about POP for some years, Michel Hartmann decided to throw himself into the venture after a career in banking. He surrounded himself with a dynamic business team and qualified employees from the Alsace region of France, who have participated in the development of Pankarte.
Pankarte PLV’s product quality and know-how are held in high regard among its clients in the food, beauty and healthcare sectors. The company’s success is mainly based on its management of the entire POP production process. Its strengths lie in its fast response times and ability to manage the production in-house, and with this in mind the company chose the HP Scitex FB6700 Printer in November 2008.
“The HP Scitex FB6700 Printer was the obvious choice when we decided to move to digital printing”, said Michel Hartman, chairman of Pankarte PLV. “Its ability to print small print runs on a large range of competitive substrates compared with screen printing, its excellent print quality and the use of environmentally-responsible water-based inks were decisive factors in our decision.”
Thanks to the quick response times achieved using the HP Scitex FB6700 Printer, Pankarte PLV was able to meet a customer’s requirements and create 300 units of a 2.3 meter high single piece totem on corrugated cardboard in under 48 hours.
In addition, the press’s ability to handle large format media allows Pankarte PLV to diversify the products it offers with regards to POP and direct printing on different rigid materials (cardboard, PVC, wood, metal, etc.).
Minimising environmental impact is a priority for Pankarte PLV, and the company has isolated the HP Scitex FB6700 Printer in a hall where what little ink waste is generated can be recovered and recycled. Furthermore, 90 percent of the work that Pankarte PLV uses to print using UV screen printing is now done digitally, producing almost practically no by-product waste.
The HP Scitex FB6700 Printer is a high productivity and high quality solution for the printing of advertising billboards directly onto rigid sheets up to 160 x 320 cm format. It is ideal for the production of a range of rigid applications, in particular advertising billboards, samples, short-run packaging and exhibition stands, due to the wide selection of widths and thicknesses of rigid substrates available.
The printer’s printing process is entirely automated thanks to the integrated loader, dryer and unloader, facilitating access and maintenance and providing a high loading capacity.
The continuous laminator, available as an option, allows classic manual finishing to be transformed into an entirely automated process. It is integrated into a single workflow system supporting the entire process, from the loading of the substrate to finishing, facilitating economies of time and space.
“The world of POP is gradually evolving towards the completely digital and environmentally responsible age,” said Hartmann. “It’s a big change that’s currently taking place and we are going to take advantage of it to broaden our signage and digital POP activities.”
