BÖWE BELL + HOWELL Enhances Combo Inserting Platform
Tuesday 02. June 2009 - Next-Generation Combo 14 Now Runs at up to 14,000 Cycles Per Hour
BÖWE BELL + HOWELL (BBH), a leading provider of document processing and postal solutions, today announced the immediate availability of the Combo 14 inserting system. The Combo 14 inserter is the latest evolution of the BBHs Combo platform – one of the industrys newest inserting technologies.
“We continue to enhance our products and services based on direct feedback from our customers,” said John Lombard, president of BÖWE BELL + HOWELL. “We are confident that the combination of increased throughput, swift application changeovers and our award-winning support will yield unmatched productivity for our customers.”
Combining the functionality of multiple inserters, the Combo 14 system handles applications for nearly any mailing operation, processing envelopes at rated speeds of up to 14,000 cycles per hour for #10 letters, 12,000 for 6″ x 9″ and up to 9,000 cycles per hour for flats. Its rapid changeover from flats to letters – in minutes, rather than hours – makes the Combo 14 system the foremost inserter for flexible, high-speed applications. Exclusive to the Combo 14 system, the EASE (Every Application Setup Easily) system dramatically reduces the number of steps required to change over from one size envelope to another. EASE incorporates a wide range of innovations, including self-locking synchronized guide adjustments and uniform hinge-line registration.
In addition to the Combo 14 inserters speed enhancement, new input channel modules, new enclosure feeders and enhancements to BBHs VEKtor and JETVision vision technologies are also available. The new 4911 combined accumulator/folder has the option of adding BBHs BIPS (BÖWE Intelligent Productivity System) to enable automated changeover of the accumulation section of the module. The new enclosure feeder design reduces the time to change inserts. JETVision and VEKtor now have 12-inch wide viewing options, enabling easy setup for integrity or quality checks virtually anywhere on a document.
“Our first step was to focus on delivering an inserter base that increased the availability of the machine by drastically reducing changeover time,” stated Gordon Galloway, BBH product manager. “Now we are expanding our trademarked EASE methodology to more of the system, further simplifying the operators environment.”
