AUSTRALIAN PRINTER EXPERIENCES CONTINUED SUCCESS WITH MARK ANDY

Mark Andy 2200 installation results in increased efficiency and production

Monday 08. June 2009 - Mark Andy 2200 installation results in increased efficiency and production

Mark Andy Inc., a world leader in narrow web printing equipment, was recently selected by Hill’s Labels to provide a Mark Andy 2200 press for their new production facility located in North Western Sydney, Australia. Hill’s Labels, founded in 2005 by Scott and Louise Beadman, had been relying on a small rotary letterpress machine to fulfill customer requirements, but increases in customer demands prompted the printer to pursue a new facility, as well as updated technology. Mr. Beadman determined flexographic printing to be the logical choice to keep up with increasing requirements, and after evaluating a variety of press manufacturers, the Mark Andy 2200 was selected as the main press for the facility.
In addition to press capabilities, a key factor in choosing Mark Andy as the supplier for the equipment was the high level of local service and support offered by Aldus Engineering (www.aldus.com.au). With the installation and local print training expertise of Aldus, it was only five days until the press was up and running and the operator was up-to-speed in operating a flexo press. Since installation, Beadman has noticed a significant increase in print quality and registration and the increased production speed has enabled Hill’s Labels to take on more projects with shorter lead times.
“The addition of the Mark Andy 2200 has resulted in a 40% reduction in make-ready, both in time and material,” states Beadman, owner of Hill’s Labels. “Our capabilities have significantly increased and when we look to add another press, it will be a Mark Andy.”
This installation marked the fourth Australian Mark Andy 2200 press installation in 2008, and brings the total number of Mark Andy 2200 installations in the continent to more than forty. This success is a direct result of the support provided by Aldus Engineering, the authorized representative of Comco and Mark Andy presses and Rotoflex finishing equipment for the region.
