MPG Digital Solutions Installs HP Indigo Press to Offer New Services
Thursday 21. May 2009 - HP today announced that MPG Digital Solutions has installed a six-colour HP Indigo press 5500 in support of its 'lifecycle' strategy and new market direction.
MPG Digital Solutions, based in Bodmin, Cornwall, is part of the MPG Books Group, one of the UK’s largest independent academic book and journal manufacturers. It specialises in producing books and journals for market leading UK publishers.
Since installing its HP Indigo press 5500, MPG Digital Solutions can offer its customers a complete end-to-end service for book production and prints multiple cover designs daily, maximising the benefits of digital printing technology.
The HP Indigo press 5500 can print at speeds up to 4,000 four-colour A4 pages per hour, enabling MPG Digital Solutions to turn around work within demanding deadlines and win new contracts for work.
To increase uptime the HP Indigo press 5500 features continuous printing with multi-drawers and stackers to minimise the time spent loading substrates into the press. The new press maximises productivity, ensuring that the finished products reach MPG Digital Solutions’ customers quickly and efficiently.
“Our customers’ response to our digitally printed book covers has been very positive. It has helped us streamline our production processes and offer digital services -such as high-speed, short-run printing – to attract new customers. It has allowed us to virtually eliminate the off-site printing of covers,” said Dennis Tilley, general manager, MPG Digital Solutions. “Because the ink is touch dry when it leaves the HP Indigo press we are immediately able to start the binding and finishing process in-house, enabling our customers to receive their books and journals as quickly as possible.”
MPG Digital Solutions’ HP Indigo press 5500 is well suited to the production of high-quality journal and book covers, using HP IndiChrome six-colour technology to colour match branded items usually made using lithographic presses.
“In our line of work high-quality print and precise colour replication is vital. We decided to invest in a six-colour HP Indigo press 5500 because of its wide colour gamut and its ability to match PANTONE Colours,” said Tilley. “We have been very impressed with the consistency and accuracy of colour reproduction produced by our new HP Indigo press. We can fulfil almost all of our customers’ requirements, especially those that use PANTONE Colours in their marketing strategy.”
