ABB hosts the world of chemistry at Achema in Frankfurt
Monday 18. May 2009 - ABB presented new products, advanced automation concepts and innovative services from 11 to 15 May at 29th worldwide Achema exhibition-congress for the chemical industry in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Despite the global recession, attendance during the first two days of the international chemical industry event was up slightly compared to 2006, while ABB’s booth reported a 20 percent increase in visitors in the first three days.
With nearly 134,000 sq m of exhibition area to explore at Achema, engineers, designers and plant manufacturers can find cutting-edge technologies for the chemical and petrochemical industries, pharmaceutical and food technology and related industries, ranging from a single valve to a complete production plant.
Merging industrial applications of electrical equipment and automation is one of the most interesting technological trends for customers, and generated much interest at Achema. This not only includes process control systems, but increasingly integrated areas of electrical engineering such as switchgear, or motor systems.
ABB’s motto, “Adding value through integration” showed how customers could improve and sustain production efficiency.
Nearly half of Achema exhibitors came from abroad, and a high proportation of international visitors also stopped over at the ABB booth.
ABB’s 200-square-meter stand hosted the world premieres of several new ABB analytical products: The process gas chromatograph PGC5000, suitable for process analysis technology (PAT) and Limas23, a compact solution for continuous measurement of emissions.
Trade visitors were also keenly interested in ABB topics such as the life cycle index for distributed control systems, the broad CPM/MES product portfolio for improving production in the metals industry, the advanced Coriolis mass flowmeter for demanding fluid measurement applications, the TTH200 temperature transducer for automatic temperature control, and ABB’s award-winning 800xA process control systems.
ABB’s compact new Freelance 800F control system and the AC 700F controller were the center of attention for many visitors. Achema 2009 brought out 3,800exhibitors from 49 countires, attracting around 180,000 visitors.
